Vacancy - Software Engineer
About Us
Ardim is a fast-growing startup at the intersection of AI and healthcare. Our technology enables faster and more accurate diagnoses, leading to better patient outcomes. The team at Ardim consists of experts that are specialized in creating cutting-edge AI solutions for medical image analysis, in particular for hand-held ultrasound.
If you’re passionate about AI, love coding, and want to make a real impact in people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you!
Your Role
As a Software Engineer, you will be a key member of our team of AI and software engineers. You will be responsible for the development of a new web-based reader assessment viewer: a browser-based alternative to the reader interface in the Ardim Ultrasound smartphone app. With it, clinicians and expert readers can review ultrasound images and record their assessments without needing the app. You will also maintain and further develop the cloud backend that currently powers our products and services on AWS. You will work closely with AI engineers, clinicians and domain experts to turn ideas into reliable, secure and user-friendly software for clinical use.
Your responsibilities include:
-
Building the web-based reader assessment viewer, from front-end interface to backend integration.
-
Designing, developing and maintaining scalable and secure backend solutions on AWS (e.g., APIs, serverless functions, storage and databases).
-
Setting up and improving professional development environments and infrastructure (CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code).
-
Ensuring data security and privacy in line with healthcare requirements.
-
Contributing to software documentation, verification and release processes for a medical device.
-
Staying up to date with the latest developments in cloud and web technologies.
Your Profile
We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer who combines strong coding skills with an interest in medical applications.
You have:
-
A Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
-
Experience developing modern web applications (e.g., React, TypeScript or a similar framework).
-
Hands-on experience building backend solutions on AWS (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB/RDS, Cognito).
-
A strong software engineering mindset: clean code, testing, version control (Git), code reviews.
-
Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
Nice to have:
-
Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation).
-
Experience with medical imaging data or viewers (e.g., DICOM).
-
Experience with Docker.
-
Experience with Python.
-
Experience developing software in a regulated environment (e.g., IEC 62304, MDR, ISO 13485).
-
Knowledge of security and privacy best practices (e.g., GDPR, secure authentication).
-
Dutch language skills.
What We Offer
-
A full-time position (40 hours) with at least two days at the office in Nijmegen.
-
An exciting role in a startup at the intersection of AI and healthcare.
-
A collaborative, flexible, and positive working environment.
-
Competitive salary, with flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work.
-
Plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility as we scale.
Timeline
-
Applications accepted until 30 November 2026.
-
Potential start date: January 2027.
